It’s incredible what some people can do
with their hands and their imagination. A Maltese artist uses chicken and
rabbit bones to create art. It is a patient hobby that takes months to collect
the bones of rabbits and chicken after they’ve been eaten, which as we know are
small. So after a chicken or a rabbit has been eaten, the bones do not always
go into the garbage. Maltese people eat large amounts of rabbit, which has
low-cholesterol meat. Restaurants serve a variety of dishes which include stews
and casseroles with both rabbit and chicken.
John Paul Azzopardi has been doing
this kind of artwork since 2006, and one of his first creations was a violin,
which is seen here. The artist wants to show us that art can emanate from
everywhere, even from the concept of death, and dead objects, like dead rabbits
and chicken. He took part in various exhibitions, most of them in Malta, but
also at the Malta pavilion in the famous Biennale of Venice, Italy. The second
photo shows a bat with wings open, ready to attack, as the Wuhan bat did 2
years ago to start the Covid pandemic.
