Yesterday,
in my hometown of St Julian’s a historic re-enactment took place to celebrate
the feast of the Ascension. Plenty of men and women, dressed in period costumes
from the 17th century paraded through the streets, and then a
presentation took place where the Grand Master of the Knights of Malta was
presented with various gifts, as if everything was happening in 1720 or
thereabouts. Shotguns were fired, marching bands paraded through the streets,
adding to the festive mood, and tourists and local folks alike enjoyed the
colourful display, taking us back in time, as I hope these photos would do to you too.
