During this Holy Week, I share with you some photos of the various displays that are featured all over Malta during this holiest of weeks. Many crafty and talented enthusiasts create many artefacts like statues, miniature churches, and several plates decorated with passion motifs. These are made out of rice, beans, semolina, salt, and many varieties of pasta. Enjoy this display from the Oratory of the Dominicans in Valletta, set up every year after meticulous and patient preparation. Each apostle is represented, and has his space with a chalice, a loaf of bread, wine, olives, nuts and fruit, but with the main attraction being the decorated plates, which you can see here with some close-ups to appreciate the artistry involved. More to come tomorrow. (click on each photo to enlarge)
