Today Pope Francis turns 84. We wish him the best of health as he continues to lead the church through a turbulent period in history. He was planning to visit Malta this past May, but his visit was cancelled because of the coronavirus. We hope that he will do this trip this coming year or the next. Jorge Bergoglio was born in Buenos Aires on December 17, 1936 and was ordained to the priesthood on December 13, 1969. He was consecrated as bishop on June 27, 1992 and created Cardinal on February 21, 2001. He was elected Pope after the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, on March 13, 2013.
