Parade of Saints at St Francis parish in Bend, OR.
Each year on the feast of All Sanits I used to present a collection of saints, represented by children from our Catholic School and our Faith Formation program. These photos show some of the children as they were presented with a brief biography. Each child was dressed up as the respective saint, even carrying an item related to their lives. This was a teaching lesson for the children as well as their parents and siblings, since I read a brief biography for each saint.
My idea was to counteract the Halloween costumes that are so popular at this time and sway the children away from the grotesque and bizarre towards the holy and sublime. The parents worked hard to research and find out how that particular saint dressed like, which shows how some of the costumes and outfits were very original.
