Martin Luther King, in a speech he gave at Glenville High School, in the state of Ohio in 1967 (with a few additions):
Try being a bush,
if you cannot be a tree.
If you cannot be
a highway, try being a pathway.
If you cannot be
the sun, try at least to be a star.
If you cannot be
a symphony, at least try to sing a song.
If you cannot be
a rose-garden, try being any flower.
Try being a book,
if you cannot be an entire library.
If you cannot
be a supermarket, try being a tuck shop.
If you cannot be in
a Cathedral to pray, try being in a chapel, or even in your own room.
Be the very best
you can be !
