The fish were worried. Too many of them were getting caught. And so they decided to discuss the situation. Thousands of them met in the deepest part of the sea to see why so many of them were getting tricked and caught by the destructive hook they come across while swimming. Some claim that curiosity gets the best of them. Others say the hook tricks them because often it is hidden. Yet others complained that they never foresaw the consequences that would follow by giving into the temptation the hook offers them. Finally one of the older fish proclaimed: ‘Brothers and sisters, I think all that you are saying is true, but I believe that none of our missing fish would be caught if they simply kept their mouth shut!’ Who knows how many times we were disappointed when we talked too much, instead of keeping quiet. How better off we would have been if we listened more often instead of opening our mouths to say something that is hurtful, obnoxious and critical. Yes, I guess even the fish can teach us a practical lesson.
