This is the
sanctuary at my Baker City Cathedral in Oregon, which I led for 8 glorious
years. Just after the renovation done in 2008, to coincide with the centennial
of its construction, we use to decorate in front of the main altar with angels,
Easter lilies sheep, candles and other brightly colored flowers. Moreover I
always encouraged the people to view the entire life of Christ while looking at
the altar, seeing the Eucharist on the altar and tabernacle, the crucified
Christ and the Resurrected Christ in the medallion up behind the cross. At
Christmas time, I placed the manger in front of the altar, where one could see
the entire life of Christ, from His birth to His Resurrection. The stained glass windows are from 1923 and they represent the Sacred Heart and St. Francis de Sales, the patron of the diocese and the parish. The baldacchino was placed there during our renovation.
