Pasta and Canned goods collected by young children for Trick-or-Treat |
A practical and
philanthropic idea has developed in Malta on how to make trick-or-treating more
of a teaching lesson for children, rather than occasion to over-indulge on
candy. The project was to invite children to go house to house in a specific neighborhood
and collect canned goods and pasta, to be later donated to 6 local orphanages
and organizations that take care of children. In just 6 hours, the young
children collected 960 kilos (2116 lbs) of pasta and canned goods. This was actually
three times the amount collected last year. This project was held in the town
of Zejtun by the “Zejtun Organization to Empower You.” Maybe some American
children can adopt this idea for the next Halloween.
