A woman's husband commuted back and forward to work on the motorway everyday. One day she was listening to the radio and heard about somebody driving the wrong way down the motorway. She picked up the phone, called her husband on the mobile and said: "Be careful dear there is someone driving down the motorway the wrong way." And he replied: "It's worse than that dear, there are hundreds of them."
Do you ever get like that at times? Life becomes so hectic you don't know which direction you are travelling; there always seems to be that mad rush about life. And when you are rushing in one direction there always seem to be others rushing in the other direction. Because of what has been called the rat race you find it very difficult to slow down; for the trend in life today, set so often by modern advertising, seems to suggest that the whole secret of happiness in life is to get as much as you can, as soon as you ever can. But the solution is really to slow down and just enjoy those moments of solitude: those quiet moments when you can recharge the battery. That is why when surrounded by the pressures of life Jesus always found the time to go off to some solitary place to get some rest, to take time for himself and time to pray to his Father in heaven. Slow down and allow the God to set the pace for your life before it is too late.
