Many of the Maltese churches during the season of Lent get a new sombre look, as the walls are dressed in black tapestry, as the statues are exposed periodically as we saw in yesterday’s post. This is the church in Naxxar, where I serve Mass almost daily now, since priests are getting less in numbers and hard to get. Many other decorations are added from time to time, culminating with the Good Friday celebration and evening procession throughout the streets, which we will review later on. But for today, we reflect on these photos and immerse ourselves into the Lenten mood and spirit.
