As we start the New Year, let's get down on our knees to thank God we're on our feet.
May the hurts you experienced in 2022 be
turned into happy memories during 2023.
May you live as long as you want
and never want as long as you live!
May all that has been reduced to noise
become beautiful and harmonious music again.
Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every New Year find you a better person. (Benjamin Franklin)
Here's to a bright New Year and a fond farewell to the old;
here's to the things that are yet to come, and to the memories that we hold.
There are better things ahead than any we leave behind. (C.S. Lewis)
Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. (Albert Einstein)
This year we lost the Queen, Elizabeth II, aged 97, the King of Soccer Pelé, aged 82, and a retired Pope, Benedict XVI, aged 95. All of them were beloved for different reasons. The first one for keeping the royalty strong, in spite of the struggles her own children and grandchildren caused, but staying at center stage until the end. The second one for mesmerizing the entire football world with his goals and fascinating techniques which overwhelmed and inspired many young players to excel and not just kick a soccer ball. The third one for gently and humbly leading the Catholic church through a turbulent period in history, but remains always as a beloved shepherd who left volumes of theological reflections and wise insights into various topics. This was a year when Pope Francis visited Malta in April, and the year ended with a scintillating World Cup in Qatar. A Happy New Year to everyone!
