Pope Francis offered this prayer for the people of Ukraine:
Lord God of peace, hear our prayer!
Open our eyes and our hearts, and
give us the courage to say:
“Never again war! With war everything
is lost.”
Instil in our hearts the courage
to take concrete steps to achieve peace.
Keep alive within us the flame of hope,
so that with patience and perseverance
we may opt for dialogue and reconciliation.
In this way may peace triumph at last. Amen.
And back in 2001, Pope St John Paul visited Ukraine and offered this prayer
to Our Lady of Zarvaniza:
Here before your miraculous icon, kept in this
church of Saint Nicholas,
I entrust to you, Mother of God and Mother of the Church, my apostolic journey to Ukraine.
Holy Mother of God, spread your maternal mantle over all Christians
and over all people of good will who live in this great nation.
Lead them to your Son, Jesus, who is for everyone the way, the truth and the life.
Prayer is sooooo important, restores hope, allows God to talk with his people if we listen for His quiet voice. Ukraine is a "sacrificial lamb" who will rise again. It stands between evil and good, only God knows... rkisok@hotmail.com Peace!
