Catholic leading the Hindus

Tamil Nadu is a state in the lower part of India. It is the 10th largest state in size and the 7th largest state in population. Tamil Nadu has 77 million residents, and between 6% and 12% are Roman Catholics. The capital city is Chennai. This past May 10th Joseph Vijay, a father of two children became the first Catholic leader of this state, which is predominantly Hindu. Vijay is a former actor and renowned film star. India is led by the Bharatiya Janata  Party (BJP) with the Prime Minister Narenda Modi as the head of the country. This party unfortunately persecutes Catholics or encourages their persecution. We hope that Vijay gets along with Modi. The majority of the Catholics in the state of Tamil Nadu are from Kerala, and they are very devout and religious. Quite a few priests serving in the USA and even in Malta are from Kerala, besides many carers and nurses, who are working in Malta and in my own retirement home, where I am serving as a chaplain, and certainly not retired.
