Where Christmas decorations are concerned, few surpass the atmosphere created around Rockefeller Center in New York City, with a magnificent tree above the golden statue of Prometheus, and ice-skaters skidding in the rink below, plus plenty of lights, highlighted by a few angels with trumpets. The shop windows are also spectacular and months of planning takes place to grab the attention of shoppers during the entire month of December. In the suburbs where I was stationed for 22 years in various parishes, the houses are always in competition with one another as they attract visitors from everywhere.
