We honor today Ronnie O’Sullivan who won the World Snooker Championship, known as the ‘Crucible’ after beating Judd Trump 18-13, held at Sheffield, England. This was the 7th world championship he won, equalling Stephen Hendry. Born December 5, 1975, he grew up in Agrigento, Sicily, where his mother was from and in Chigwell, Essex, where he still lives. Ronnie turned professional at the age of 16. Known as ‘The Rocket’, he had been rated as number 1 for various years ever since 2001. He had made 15 maximum breaks (147 – 15 reds and 15 blacks, plus colors,) and has amassed an impressive 1169 century breaks. He has 3 children, Taylor-Ann Magnus, Lily and Ronnie Jr, the last two still teenagers who were with him at the final. Ronnie has won every imaginable tournament and whenever he is not the winner he is the finalist or at lest semi-finalist. Very rarely he is eliminated in the early rounds. He has won the most ranking titles in professional snooker, with 39, as well as the most Triple Crown titles, with 21, having also won the Masters and UK Championship seven times each. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire by the Queen in 2016. Congratulations Ronnie!
