More images of a young Jesus

A few more interesting images of a young Jesus today starting with a very human expression as he cries in the hands of his father Joseph. Maybe he just woke up and wipes his eyes to open them fully for another busy day ahead of him. Or maybe he is crying for not getting his way in something he may have asked for. St Joseph does not seem to be too much concerned as he lets the little temper-tantrum pass by. Boys will be boys, and Jesus was a boy like all of the boys.

Here we see Jesus carrying a sheaf of wheat, a prefiguring of the Eucharist He would give us as his lasting gift at the Last Supper. The wheat becomes bread and the bread becomes His Body. And during each Mass, every priest celebrating Mass has to privilege to change the hosts into Jesus’ real body, just as he does with the wine in the chalice, turning it into Jesus’ true Blood.

Another cute painting shows a pensive Jesus, looking up to heaven, as He waits for His Father to show Him the way to go, where to travel, what his itinerary would be and what He would be doing as a teenager as a young man before starting his official ministry at the age of 30.
The last photo today shows Jesus as a young priest holding the Eucharist, His own Body to share with those who are ready to receive Him. In the background one can also see the manger and the tree, from which the Cross would be made. So the beginning and the end of his life are symbolically represented in this touching image. Jesus holds the host in one hand and the ciborium in the other hand, as He says ‘Behold the Lamb of God.’
