Our little saints

All Saints parade at St Francis in Bend Oregon, 2015

As we approach the feast of All Saints, I want to look back at my years in the USA and see how I used to accentuate All Saints above Halloween. Trying to focus on the religious aspect of the end-of-October festivities, every year I used to gather a group of children and invite them, along with their parents to dress up as different saints. Creative outfits were left to the parents and the children’s imagination and ideas to present a particular saint, which I would introduce at each Mass, as both children and parents attending Mass enjoyed learning about our holy people when I explain a little biography of each saint. In these photos you can see the various holy people that were presented both in the Cathedral of Baker City and also in my last parish of St Francis of Assisi in Bend, Oregon. Among them you can probably recognize St. Patrick, St. Rita. St. Teresa of Calcutta, St. Paul, St. Juan Diego, St. Lawrence, St. Veronica, St. Kateri Tekakwitha, St. Michael, St. Julian, St. Nicholas, St. Joan of Arc, St. Elizabeth, St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Gianna Beretta Molla, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and more – see how many can you recognize.
