Time for conversion

The kiss of Judas Iscariot led to Calvary and our salvation. The denial of Peter led to his sincere conversion and a profound transformation. The darkness encircling the good thief Dismas, was enlightened by the grace from Jesus. The cross, symbol of shame became the glorious sign of victory. If you feel spiritually dry, you have the opportunity to nourish yourself with plenty of opportunities to strengthen your faith. Mary Magdalen and St Augustine were both tainted by a sinful life, but they turned things around and were blessed with the scent of holiness. Look around you and notice the various transformations taking place, especially in our natural world. With a sprinkling of manure come beautiful roses, juicy fruit and many of our enriching vegetables. Even a tiny worm changes into a colorful butterfly. In the same way a scary thunderstorm can bring sunshine and pleasant weather. We can even recycle so many objects and become as new, instead of junking them into garbage. And so we have 365 opportunities to transform ourselves, every day throughout a year.  Maybe our conversion would not be as dramatic as the one St Paul experienced on his road to Damascus, but it can happen. Even if takes a few days, a few weeks, a few months, maybe an entire year. The important thing is that it does happen. And remember that Jesus spent his entire life turning things into better things, ordinary people into holy people. He changed enemies into friends, He turned condemnation into forgiveness, He turned sickness into health, He even turned death into new Life ! He turned blindness into eyesight, even deafness into speech. And He turned Bread and Wine into His own Body and Blood. And He turned crucifixion into Resurrection. So let’s all do our part - from a mediocre life to one of commitment, from spiritual lethargy to a new enthusiasm in the Lord.
