Pope Francis will be celebrating 10 years as our
Supreme Pontiff on March 13, and he is still indefatigable with his stamina, in
spite of knee problems and his sciatica always bothering him. At the age of 86,
he keeps going, having made 40 apostolic journeys since March 13, 2013, when he
was elected Pope. He visited 60 nations in total, over 176 days he spent on the
road, almost six months in total. We can add another 30 visits to various towns
in Italy, including Assisi which he visited 6 times, honoring his namesake
Francis of Assisi. Among the nations he visited, there were 6 which were never
visited by either of his predecessors – Myanmar, North Macedonia, United Arab
Emerites, Iraq, Bahrain and South Sudan. This year he will be visiting Hungary
and Lisbon for the World Youth Day in Portugal, besides possible trips to
Marseilles and Mongolia, with India projected for next year. He keeps going and
going......
