Jesus took Peter, James and
his brother John and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves. And he
was transfigured before them, and his clothes became dazzling white, such as no
fuller on earth could bleach them. Then Elijah appeared to them along with
Moses, and they were conversing with Jesus. Then a cloud came, casting a shadow
over them; from the cloud came a voice: "This is my beloved Son. Listen to
Him."
Are we listening to Him? There is a big difference
between hearing something and listening attentively and intuitively. You can
hear Beethoven or Mozart played on the radio, but to really listen to their
music is to dissect, digest, analyse and appreciate the beautiful melodies they left us.
The same with our relationship to Jesus. We can hear sermons and homilies about
Him, but it’s important to also put into our hearts and minds the messages He
gives us through those who preach. He
still talks to us through Scripture, through miracles that still happen daily,
through the Eucharist, through recommendations we receive from the Pope, our
Bishops and priests. Are we listening to them? Because if we don't listen to
them, we're not listening to Him!
