Fall Foliage

Rows of maple trees in the Northeast of the USA

One of the most impressive memories I have of the month of November is that of the spectacular colors seen in the foliage of trees, both in New York and Oregon. While New York and the entire northeast is dominated by the red, yellow and orange maple trees as well as oak trees and other foliage, Oregon sparkles with its tamarack trees which appear like pointed yellow arrows looking upwards towards their creator. These two photos I took 30 years apart display the sheer brilliance of these annual phenomena.
