First Holy Communion at 101

Most probably Dona Penha is the oldest person ever to receive her First Holy Communion. She is 101 years old, and a year ago she was admitted in a nursing home run by the Sisters of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She started to attend Mass daily and when she asked to go to confession, the priest realized that this was her first confession. So he asked the nuns to instruct her and set a date when she can receive her First Holy Communion. She was very much alert and lucid and very happy on her special day. 

The Administrative Assistant of the nursing home said: ”It was a very special moment for Dona to receive the Eucharist, which shows that neither shyness not age can stop a person who is really searching for God in their life.”
