The 7 Joys of Saint Joseph

A smiling St Joseph at Zejtun church, Malta
The image of Saint Joseph is very low-key, meek and humble, staying in the background all through his life, saying nothing other than accepting the offer to be Jesus’ foster father. Yet Joseph rejoiced very much as he took Mary as his wife, saw Jesus being born and raised him in their humble home at Nazareth, training him in the carpenter’s trade as a young man. There are 7 joys that are attributed to Saint Joseph, which are these:
1.       When the Angel appeared to him and told him that he would marry Mary and become the foster-father of her Son.
2.       When he saw the Angels and shepherds adoring his newborn son in the cave of Bethlehem.
3.       When he announced to the people that the name of his son will be Jesus.
4.       When he saw the three Kings arrive at Bethlehem and present his Son the gifts of myrrh, gold and frankincense.
5.       The prophecy of Simeon, the High priest that his Son will be great and special to many people.
6.       When he returned with his family to Nazareth after the death of Herod, and settled there in their home.
7.       When he found Jesus teaching in the temple after three days he spent with Mary searching for him.
